Hong Kong

The special administrative region of Hong Kong is a focal point of major concern for Democracy. In a short period of time, sweeping legislative changes through the National Security Law imposed by China have undermined all remaining democratic freedoms in Hong Kong. With the pretext of national security, freedom of speech is now non-existent, citizens are unable to demonstrate, pro-democracy candidates are unable to run for office, hold rallies and many have been jailed or live in fear of imprisonment.

China

The People’s Republic of China is a brutal and corrupt autocratic regime that is run for the benefit of those who are aligned to the sphere of influence of the CCP. Civil liberties and democracy are non-existent and particularly dissent and the expression of political views is severely persecuted.

Wealth disparity is correlated with alignment with the CCP. Citizens who fall outside of the sphere of influence of the CCP will not prosper in life, are unable to travel, obtain credit, and often live in poverty.
